A manic day at Blithfield - anywhere between W and NW is particularly good here. On the water by midday, but 4.7m on 90 litres seemed way too much for me. Changed down to 4.2 and 69 litres and had some nicely powered runs - the wave board felt fantastic - smooth and loose. Others were making 5.3 look easy; no idea how they do it. Meaty chop for hopping off, easiest on port tack.

Wind eased slightly and wave board was sinking so went back out on Max 2 Air. Some fantastic runs footsteering on the chop. Gybing was a disaster even on the smooth water in the bay. I was pulled out of shape and flung through the air nearly every time - I think I need some coaching or maybe I should have tried the 4.2 on the Max 2 Air.

A superb session in winter sunshine despite the gybing horrors.
